One hour drive to Würzburg. Visit the prinz-bishop’s Residenz Palace, the“Franconian Versailles,” and walk through the town center and market square. Across the river, experience the thrilling climb and rewarding views from the Marienberg Fortress in the afternoon

One hour drive south to Rothenburg ob der Tauber, the country’s best preserved walled city. In the word Rothenburg, the h is silent. Also, there are several other Rothenburgs in Germany. Using “ob der Tauber” meaning on the Tauber River, signifies the Rothenburg we plan to visit
In the Middle Ages,Rothenburg was a “free imperial city” on the main trade route between northern and southern Europe.
Orientation walk, time for lunch and afternoon on your own
Drive two hours on to Bamberg.

Orientation walk to experience the cultural and architectural highlights of this UNESCO designated city, also with seven hills, cross through its Town Hall dating from 1386 and over the Regnitz River. Later time for lunch and a wander through its Little Venice area and pedestrianized center on your own

Drive 2 hours north to Erfurt, a charming half-timbered, medieval German town that escaped the WWII bombs. Visit the Augustinian Monastery and church where Luther became a monk
Time for lunch and town visit on your own
Drive two and a half hours to Lutherstadt Wittenberg also a UNESCO site
